Artist tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Artists work under the leadership of a Design Director to complete special projects for Set and Decor Teams. Artists may have the option to serve alongside a Set or Decor Team, or do smaller projects individually. If you have Fine Art experience, please explain in detail in the notes section. Directors reserve the right to select people based on task availability, circumstance, or skill set. ***This task is not the same as Workday or Day of Prom Set-Up tasks. Those tasks can be found task choices listed on the website. Workday and Day of Prom Set-Up tasks are filled quickly. If that is your preference don't delay in signing up.

* In Advance - Computer Skills
Computer Skill tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Minimum requirements for these tasks include internet access, email access, active virus protection software, and computer savvy. PRIORITY FOR THESE POSITIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO PEOPLE DRIVING MORE THAN 100 MILES TO PROM.

* In Advance - Construction
Construction tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Construction team members may have the option to serve with a Set Team before prom, do smaller projects individually, or serve Day of Prom with Set Up. We're looking for people who measure twice, cut once (usually with a power tool). Any tools you can supply are welcomed. Set Teams work directly with a Set Captain to create sets from plans/drawings of a Set Designer. Directions are provided, but creativity is also often necessary. We strive to create Set Teams within a reasonable geographic area so the team members can more easily meet for completing tasks.

* In Advance - Dance Lesson Service Team
Parents come early to help with setup, check-in students, receive payments, help with snack service, light chaperoning during the lesson, and clean up.

* In Advance - Decorating
Decorating tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Decorating skills are needed for a variety of tasks including: creative brainstorming, assembly of decor, creating ambiance of a set, and helping with setting the tables in the ballroom. If you have design or decorating experience, please provide details in the notes section. ***This task is not the same as Workday or Day of Prom Set-Up tasks. Those tasks can be found task choices listed on the website. Workday and Day of Prom Set-Up tasks are filled quickly. If that is your preference don't delay in signing up.

* In Advance - Detail-Oriented
Detail-oriented tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Our Leadership Team is always looking for prom parents who are detail-oriented to help with a variety of tasks. If you have the ability to pay close attention to all of the small particulars while working on a task or project, please let us know!

* In Advance - Errands
Errand tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Errand Runners are individuals who agree to complete errands for TxCHP Directors. You'll report to an assigned Director, who will sign off on the amount of time spent accomplishing specific errands. Dates will vary for this task. Most Errand Runners will complete their tasks prior to Day of Prom.

* In Advance - Floral Design
Floral Design tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Floral Designers are sometimes presented with options to work with others, or individually helping with floral preparation tasks.

* In Advance - Organizing
Organizers are needed in a variety of capacities, including organizing things, such as: storage, props on Day of Prom, boxes of decor. And also for organizing processes and/or systems like Teardown, Setup, Packing the moving truck, & Workdays. Organizers report to the Design Director. They may also work closely with, and under the direction of the Storage Lead.

* In Advance - Painting
Painting tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Painters help at workdays or with one of the Set Teams at a private home to paint large areas, like walls, backgrounds of murals, and furniture or other objects. This is not a "fine art" skill (see Artist for that one).

* In Advance - People Skills
Tasks requiring People Skills are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Our Leadership Team is always looking for prom parents with excellent people skills to help with a variety of interactive tasks. If you have the ability to work with or talk to other people in an effective and friendly manner, please let us know!

* In Advance - Phone / Email Skills
Tasks requiring Phone/Email skills are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Minimum requirements for these tasks include internet access, email access, active virus protection software, and computer savvy. PRIORITY FOR THESE POSITIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO PEOPLE DRIVING MORE THAN 100 MILES TO PROM.

* In Advance - Production Lighting
Production Lighting tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Production Lighting experience is needed for: preparing and/or updating lights for displays and ambience, various sets, stages, and the ballroom. This task may also include programming lights or other technical details. Please list any previous lighting and/or technical experience, in detail, in the notes section.

* In Advance - Set Assist
Set Assist tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Set Assist Team Members work under the direction of Set Captains and are specifically assigned to help with the creation/production of an assigned set. Work may be done on a variety of days throughout prom season. Set Captains are responsible for coordinating work days with Set Assist Team Members for each specific set.

* In Advance - Set Captain
Set Captains bring the vision for a set to life, using the Set Design and a crew of friends or assigned workers to construct, paint, decorate, or otherwise accomplish the intended design. Set Captains are required to be onsite by 8:00 AM Day of Prom and remain until their set is complete. Set Captains also return immediately following prom and oversee the take down of their assigned set, including proper storage of items in marked bins. Advance work will be required. Set Captains should also keep track of any parents who serve on their team and length of time served. Set Captains report to the Foyer Decor Lead.

* In Advance - Set Design
A Set Designer should have previous experience with the creation, design, and construction of a set. The Set Designer will be able to take a vague notion of a theme and envision how to bring that theme to life for prom. Then, they should be able to design the set and create a complete set of "instructions," including drawings, bill of materials, suggestions for where to locate materials, etc. These detailed instructions would then be passed to a Set Captain who will work with construction team members to bring the vision to life. The Set Designer and Set Captain may be the same person, in which case the title Set Captain is applied. Set Designers report to the Design Director.

* In Advance - Sewing
Sewing tasks are completed IN ADVANCE of prom week, in a variety of places, depending on specific needs. Seamstresses working from home or at work days MUST provide their own sewing machine. Sewing tasks include: hemming sashes and table covers, making costumes, and creating decorative items. Prom provides all fabric, directions, and supplies. Please let us know in the notes if you are comfortable sewing costumes or would rather stick to sewing straight lines. We will have jobs ranging in skill level and would like to place you where you would be most comfortable.

* In Advance - Workday Task (Just Tell Me What To Do)
Members of this team show up for their assigned workday with the phrase "Just Tell Me What To Do" on the tip of their tongues. Team members will be helping with whatever preparation jobs need to be done for prom. These tasks may include: assembling invitations, assembling keepsakes, sorting and organizing various items, etc. Much of this work may be done in a seated position.

* Phone Calling
Callers make phone calls on behalf of TxCHP for one of the Directors. Calls for the Parent Participation Lead help unassigned families find a task to do or give information to parents regarding tasks they have signed up to do. Calls for the Group Seating Lead help group hosts complete their group's invitations. Members of this team either report to the Parent Participation Coordinator and the Director over that area or to the Group Seating Coordinator and the Director over that area. Dates for this task vary according to when we need phone calls made. FYI - Date listed for this job is prom day - but it is very unlikely that would be your assigned date for making calls.

* Prom Week - Construction

* Prom Week - Pick Up/Delivery with my Truck/Trailer
These specific pick up and delivery tasks will be scheduled DURING PROM WEEK, including POST PROM returning of items, to and from a variety of places, depending on specific needs. The first part of this task requires you to use your truck to retrieve and deliver items and/or a rented trailer before prom, and then return the items and/or rented trailer to the rightful places post prom. Transported items may include: rented trailers, set construction materials, finished sets, and/or props. If you have a truck and/or trailer that can transport large objects, please let us know. Pickup and Delivery Team Members report to the Design Director.

* Prom Week - Truck Loading and Unloading
Prom Week Truck Loading and Unloading tasks are completed at various locations from Tuesday - Thursday, the week of prom. Loaders will meet at a warehouse or designated location to load items to take to prom. Unloaders will bring items off the trucks and trailers, then help with distribution of items to their assigned locations. This work will be completed in Dallas. This task does require manual labor and the ability to lift items and to carry them while walking.

* Prom Week - Volunteer Arrival
Volunteer Arrival tasks will be completed DURING PROM WEEK, at various times. This position serves to check in adult volunteers who are working on site at the hotel either during the day or Night of Prom. This position requires good people and communication skills, ability to follow directions, pay attention to detail, and basic computer skills.

* PromNight - Ballroom Attendant / Special Meals Team
The Ballroom Attendant/Special Meals Team reports to the Special Meals Coordinator and the Ballroom Director. Team members assist students with finding their tables, and then later work to ensure that students with special dietary needs receive correct meals. Other jobs throughout the evening may include checking water dispensers, answering general questions from students, and helping students with a problem get directed to the right area. You must be able to read reasonably well in a darkened environment, including a list of student names, table numbers, and a map of the ballroom. You should familiarize yourself with the Ballroom and Foyer Cast maps prior to Prom Night, so you'll be able to properly direct students. You must be able to stand for long periods of time, and should arrive in proper attire for the task you have been assigned. You will need to work for the benefit of all students, and understand attendants may not see their own children. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Ballroom Cast (Costumes, No Acting)
Ballroom Cast members serve in several areas throughout the prom evening, including, but not limited to: greeting students in the student check-in line, welcoming students as they arrive in the ballroom, chaperoning students on the dance floor, and throughout the seating areas and ballroom all evening. Ballroom Cast Members are required to rent, purchase, or make an appropriate costume for the evening's theme. All costumes MUST be discussed and approved by your assigned Team Captain. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Computer Skills
These Computer Skill tasks are completed DURING Prom and vary according to needs. Minimum requirements for these tasks include ability to follow instructions, attention to detail, and a moderately high level of computer savvy. These tasks require the person to arrive in the afternoon and stay until prom ends. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - First Aid Team
First Aid Team members are medically trained parents who serve students or staff needing medical assistance throughout the night of prom. Supplies are provided by TxCHP. Team members report to the Sentinel Team Lead. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Foyer Cast (Costumes AND Acting)
Foyer Cast Members are assigned a Cast Role, to be carried out in the Foyer Area. This task includes: dressing in costume, serving students as they visit the assigned set, taking photos for the students with their own cameras, posing for pictures with the students, and possibly assisting with games or activities at the assigned set. Unlike the Ballroom Cast (who serve in the Ballroom primarily), you will serve in the Foyer Area at a specifically assigned set. Foyer Cast Members are required to rent, purchase, or make an appropriate costume for the evening's theme. All costumes MUST be discussed and approved by your assigned Team Captain. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Intercessory Prayer
Are you an intercessor? The Intercessory Prayer Team may be for you! Prayer Team Members serve during Night of Prom by interceding for general needs and situations, as well as being available to pray for specific needs of students or staff onsite throughout the event, as needs may arise. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Photographer
Photographers take photos throughout the evening in the Check-in, Ballroom, and Foyer areas. Photographers are required to have a certain type of camera and will have a phone interview with the Photography Team Lead before being assigned this position. All photos are uploaded to the prom SmugMug account throughout the event and are the property of TxCHP. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Photography Assistant
Photography Assistants serve to assist Photographers throughout the prom area. As well as, serving the students by taking photos for students with the students' own cameras or smartphones. Service on this team will not be confirmed until you have had a phone interview with the Photography Team Lead. Photography Reviewers serve on the Photography Tech Team, reviewing photos that the Photography Tech Team are uploading throughout Night of Prom. Photography experience is not necessary, but you should be comfortable using the internet. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Photography Tech Team
Photography Tech Team assists the Candid Photography Team all night by reviewing, organizing and completing the upload of images from the individual photographers' camera cards. All parents working onsite during prom must attend the mandatory Night of Prom Training meeting. Your attire for the evening is to consist of black dress slacks or skirt and a nice white dress shirt with comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet most of the evening. All attire must meet the same dress code requiements as we hold the students to. You can find those details on our website.

* PromNight - Reception / Hospitality Team
The Reception / Hospitality Team serves at the reception tables greeting and assisting students and Night of Prom staff. This team is responsible for checking-in students and NOP staff before prom, teardown workers after prom, and might include various other tasks to ensure the night runs smoothly. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Red Carpet Team
The Red Carpet Team serves during dress check and student check-in hours to make a calm, peaceful atmosphere during dress check on the Red Carpet and in the area where students have to wait if they are pulled for a dress code issue. Part of your job will be to assist the students with understanding the available options before quick fixes are done to garments. Team members should have a patient and kind disposition and have experience showing love and grace during stressful situations. This team also moves from the hotel side to the prom convention center side to serve throughout prom, assisting students with staying in dress code. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Sentinels
Sentinel Team Members are selected by and report directly to the Sentinel Lead. The Sentinel Team serves throughout the evening keeping the perimeter secure, assisting students with various needs, escorting students who must leave the secure area for any reason, and providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all in attendance. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * PromNight - Sewing
Prom Night Sewing tasks are completed DURING NIGHT OF PROM. Seamstresses are located on both the hotel side and convention center side seamstress areas during check in. After that, teams will rotate to the larger bathrooms of the Frisco Convention Center to assist students with wardrobe issues. Prom supplies a hamper full of fabric and lace in several neutral colors, as well as a stocked sewing kit containing thread, scissors, pins, and needles. In addition, there are shared supplies such as closures, buttons, and several other items that may be needed during the evening. The goal of our team is to help each student to be able to remain at prom by fixing tears, covering exposed areas, and helping students not feel as stressed when unexpected attire situations arise. * PromNight - Speak Fluent Spanish
This position assists the Special Meals Coordinator in interacting with the waitstaff about special meals and other special concerns during Night of Prom. * PromNight - Student Check-In Team
This team serves Night of Prom to get students through the check-in process efficiently and quickly. These team members are our student's first impression of prom. As such, it is vital these folks are friendly and welcoming. Please be aware that members of this team do not have access into the prom secure area. Members of this team must agree to and sign the "Night of Prom Adult Staff Agreement" and attend the Mandatory Night of Prom Training Meeting a few weeks prior to prom. * Teardown / Post-Prom - Linen Care Team
Linen Care Team Members are responsible for the care of TxCHP owned linens after prom on Saturday Night. Team Members work to help TEAR DOWN the linens from the tables and prepare to take them home. Each person is assigned a certain number of linens to sort/count/bag and take them home to launder them. Laundered and folded linens are then returned to the TxCHP Warehouse a couple of weeks after prom. The exact date will be communicated to you by the Linen Lead before you show up to work.

* Teardown / Post-Prom - Teardown Team
This team begins tearing down the prom decorations and re-storing all of the TxCHP reusable items for storage immediately following prom. If you have the following tools, please bring them clearly marked with your name and phone number: cordless power drill, flat head screwdrivers, pliers, small pry bars, tool belt/pouch. Your team lead will be contacting you a couple of weeks prior to prom. If you are interested in being one of the Captains for this task, please add that to your notes or email promparents@txchp.com to indicate your interest. All Teardown Team members are considered to be VIPs - we have drawings throughout the teardown time for prizes, including gift cards, prom tickets for next year's prom, group reservations for next year's prom, etc. In addition to being eligible for prizes, one great perk is that all Teardown Team members who serve in the 12:45am-7am shift are invited to purchase tickets for the following year's prom in advance of the general public. We are EXTREMELY grateful for our Teardown Team members!

* Teardown / Post-Prom - Truck Unloading (Monday)
This job happens on the MONDAY following prom - and half will be in NORTH DALLAS and half at Backstage Closet where we store items for annual use. Unloading and Moving Team members will help unload the moving trucks and reload the storage bins and oversized reusable items into the TxCHP Storage Space in either North Dallas or to Backstage Closet. Ability to lift and carry is required for this task.
